Fourteen Hours to Megadeth a play by B. D. Heywood
A poignant and sexy coming-out story set in 1991 when metal ruled.
Performed at the Phoenix Center for the Arts. Feb. 6 - 8, 2014
Shy sophomore Alex agrees to go in a fourteen-hour road trip with five other high school youths to San Diego for the Clash of the Titans concert featuring Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer.
Alex is just acknowledging he is gay and is terrified his orientation will be discovered. He has a crush on Sage, one of the most popular and rebellious seniors at school, who is also going on the trip.
Although he's been bullied by other boys on the trip, Alex cannot turn down the chance to be near Sage for a few hours. Halfway into their journey, Sage gets into a fight with another youth and is abandoned.
Alex stands up to the group by refusing to leave Sage. As they find their way to the concert, Alex confesses his feelings and makes a surprising discovery.
